Fire Safety Finger Paint Flame Craft!

Let’s make a fire safety craft for preschool and kindergarten children during Fire Prevention Week!

Finger painting a fire flame is a real simple and fun craft activity for kids to make. And, it is just perfect for a fire prevention and fire safety theme unit. Remember, when children learn what to do in emergency situations, they are less likely to become injured.

Fire! Fire! written by Gail Gibbons, is a wonderful book to read to children during Fire Prevention Week. And, there are so many great activities that go with the book, like this fire safety finger paint flame craft!

While the kids are working on their flame craft, play the Be Careful Little Hands song for children in the background.

So, what are you waiting for?  Let’s teach our children about Fire Prevention and Fire Safety!

Craft items you will need:

  • Fire flame template (optional)
  • White paper
  • Black construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Red and Yellow paint
  • Paper plates

Craft instructions:

Print off the fire flame template on white paper.  Or, feel free to have the children draw their own fire flame.

Have the children cut out the fire flame from the white paper and glue it to black construction paper.

Next, pour the red and yellow paint onto paper plates.

Then, have the children dip their fingers in the yellow paint and start coloring in their fire flame.

After that, have the children dip their fingers in the red paint to make red hot fire flames.

Let dry.

And, voila, the children have now made a Finger paint Fire Flame.  This craft activity for kids adds a little bit of fun to the serious topic of Fire Prevention and Fire Safety, and is just perfect for a Fire Prevention and Fire Safety theme unit.
