Then, have the children scrunch up the red and blue tissue paper into small balls.

Have the children apply glue to the first stripe (follow the flag pattern) and glue on the red tissue paper.

After that, have the children apply glue to the next stripe and glue on the white cotton balls.

Have the children repeat the process till they reach the end of the cardboard.

Once done, have the children apply glue to the top left hand square and glue the blue tissue paper.

Lastly, have the children glue cotton balls over the blue tissue paper, give the appearance of stars.

Then, using a pencil have the children poke 2 holes into the red egg cup.

After that, have the children insert a black pipe cleaner into the holes.  This will be the Caterpillar’s antennae.

Once done, have the children glue googly eyes on the red egg cup.

Lastly, have the children poke 2 holes in the red egg cup, and insert a small piece of black pipe cleaner for the mouth.

Using a buttered spatula, have the children place the Rice Krispies mixture evenly into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan that’s been sprayed with non-stick spray.

When the mixture cools, cut the Green Rice Krispies into squares.

Have the children fold the strip in half, going from left to right.

Using the scissors again, going in a diagonal angle, have the children cut off the right side bottom corner and cut an upside-down triangle on the top.

Have the children unfold the paper, and they have now made George Washington’s hat!

Returning to blue blue construction paper, have the children cut out a large circle shape.

Then, have the children fold the circle shape in half.  This will be George Washington’s body.

After that, have the children cut a strip of yellow paper and glue it across George Washington’s hat.

When ready, have the children glue the hat onto George Washington’s head.

Once done, have the children fold a doily in half and glue it onto George Washington’s body.

Following that, have the children glue George Washington’s head and body together.

Using glue, have the children apply cotton balls to the side of George Washington’s face, resembling hair.

Lastly, have the children glue on googly eyes and draw a mouth and nose.

And, voila! The children have now made a Presidents Day George Washington craft.

Craft instructions:

Have the children pour a TBSP of vinegar in a Ziploc bag .

Next, have the children add red food dye.

Then, have the children pour in the rice.

Close the bag and shake well.

When the rice is red, have the children pour it onto a paper plate.

Let dry.

While the rice is drying, have the children draw a large heart on pink card stock (or print out the heart from the heart template below).

       Print It!    

Then, have the children glue mini marshmallows all along the outline of their heart.

When the rice is dry, have the children spread glue all over the inside of the heart.

After that, have the children sprinkle the red rice all over the glue.

Let dry.

And, voila! The children have now made a Marshmallow and Rice Heart For Valentine’s Day.

Have the children glue the 2 yellow strips around the black toilet paper roll, making Bee stripes.

After that, have the children draw and cut out 1 large heart, 2 small hearts and 2 tiny hearts from black construction paper.

Once done, have the children draw and cut out 2 large hearts and 1 small heart from yellow construction paper.

When ready, have the children glue the small yellow heart onto the large black heart.  This will be the Bee’s face.

Following that, have the children glue the 2 tiny black hearts onto the Bee’s face.  These will be the Bee’s eyes.

Using a black marker, have the children add a mouth and nose to the Bee’s face.

Then, have the children glue the 2 small black hearts onto the 2 large yellow hearts.  These will be the Bee’s wings.

Have the children glue the Bee’s face/head onto the toilet paper roll, and glue the Bee’s wings onto the back of the toilet roll.

Lastly, have the children write BEE MINE on a craft stick and glue it inside the bottom of the Bee’s body.

Have the children take a cup full of vinegar and pour inside a Ziploc bag.

Then, have the children add noodles to the Ziploc bag, close it and shake the Ziploc bag.

When the noodles look bright and colorful, have the children pour the noodles onto a paper plate to dry.

While the first color of noodles are drying, have the children repeat the process, each time with a different color.

Once all the different color noodles are dry, take scotch tape and tape one end of the string to it.  This will keep the noodles from falling off the string.

After that, have the children thread the noodles, onto the string, in a color pattern of their choice.

When the children are done, cut the string and have them tie the ends together.  This is a perfect opportunity for children to practice their tying skills.

And, voila! The children have now made a Mardi Gras noodle necklace craft!

This Chinese fortune cookies recipe is simple and easy for children to follow. And, it makes for a super fun and yummy treat too!

Cooking ingredients you will need:

• 3 egg whites
• 3/4 cup of sugar
• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/8 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
• 2 TBSP water
• Food coloring
• Cookie sheets
• Gloves
• Muffin tins
• 30 strips of paper with fortunes written on them

Cooking directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Have the children generously grease 2 cookie sheets.

In a bowl, have the children beat the egg whites and vanilla, until foamy.

In another bowl, have the children mix together the flour, salt and sugar.

Next, have the children slowly pour the flour mixture into the egg white mixture, and blend well.

After that, have the children separate the Fortune Cookie mixture into 4 bowls.

In each bowl, have the children add a few drops of different color food coloring to the Fortune Cookie batter.   For ours, we used orange (red and yellow food coloring), green (blue and yellow food coloring), yellow and red food coloring.

On a greased cookie sheet, using a teaspoon, have the children spread batter per Fortune Cookie in a (3-4-inch) circle.  Each cookies should be about 4 inches apart. Prepare 2 to 3 cookies per sheet.

Bake the Fortune Cookies for 5 minutes or until the cookies have a 1/2 wide golden edge around the ends of the Fortune Cookies.

Quickly, place a strip of paper in the center of each cookie. Be careful – it’s hot!

Using a small metal spatula or butter knife, fold the cookie in a half-moon. Then fold down the straight side of the cookie to form the fortune cookie.

Let the fortune cookies cool in a muffin tin to hold their shape.

And, voila! The children have now made a rainbow Chinese fortune cookies recipe!

Lastly, have the children glue the windows on the Bus, making sure they put Rosa Parks at the front of the bus!

Craft items you will need:

• Construction paper in different colors
• White writing paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Markers

Craft instructions:

On white writing paper, have the children write the Snowman Soup ingredients:
3 snowballs
1 hat
2 mittens
1 carrot nose
2 coal eyes
3 buttons
1 broomstick

When complete, have the children draw and cut out a large round circle-shape from construction paper.   This will be their Snowman Soup bowl.

Next, have the children draw and cut out 3 circles from white construction paper.  These will be snowballs for the Snowman Soup.

Then, have the children draw and cut out a hat from black construction paper.  This will be the Snowman’s hat.

After that, have the children draw and cut out a triangle-shape from orange construction paper.  This will the Snowman’s nose.

Using the black construction paper again, have the children cut out 2 small circle-shapes.  This will be the Snowman’s eyes.

Once done, have the children draw and cut out 3 medium size circle-shapes from 3 different color sheets of construction paper.  These will be the Snowman’s buttons.

Following that, have the children draw and cut out a broom handle from brown construction paper and a broom from yellow construction paper.

Using glue, have the children attach the broom to the broom handle.

Then, using black marker, have the children write SNOWMAN SOUP on a white paper and cut it out.

Have the children take a sheet of construction paper and glue the SNOWMAN SOUP recipe title at the top of it.

After that, have the children glue the soup bowl and all the Snowman Soup ingredients onto their construction paper.

Lastly, have the children glue all the written Snowman Soup recipe ingredient below their Snowman Soup bowl.

And, voila! The children have now made Snowman Soup and shared the Snowman Soup recipe!

Craft instructions:

Have the children pour a handful of beans into an empty water bottle.

Have the children place glue around the plastic water bottle lid to secure the lid to the water bottle.

Next, help the children create a mixture using 1/2 glue and 1/2 water in a plastic bowl.

Then, have the children cut white tissue paper into small pieces.

After that, have the children paint the glue and water mixture onto the empty water bottle, and then stick the white tissue paper all over the empty water bottle.

Repeat the process till the entire water bottle is covered in white tissue paper.

When done, have the children cut up different colors of tissue paper.

Using the water and glue mixture, have the children apply it over the white tissue paper on the empty water bottle, and then stick the cut up tissue paper pieces all over the white tissue paper.

Let dry.

Lastly, have the children take the ribbons and tie them around the neck of the empty water bottle for decoration.

Next, have the children curve the triangle into a slight curve and staple the two sides together, leaving a small opening at the top of the hat.

Then, have the children cut strips from a sheet of construction paper.

When done, have the children insert the paper strips inside the hole at the tip of their New Year Party Hat, and staple the tip of the Party Hat shut.

• Paper plate
• Black marker
• Glitter paint in different colors
• Glitter foam in 2 colors
• Glitter

• Metal paper fastener

Craft instructions:

Using a black marker, have the children write clock numbers 1 through 12 on a paper plate.

Next, have the children poke a hole in the center of the paper plate.

Then, have the children paint the paper plate with a variety of glitter glue colors.

Let dry.

After that, have the children draw and cut out a clock pendulum “time marker” from glitter foam.

Also, have the children draw and cut out a small 4″ strip for the pendulum handle.

When ready, have the children glue the clock pendulum to the pendulum handle.

While waiting for the clock pendulum to set, using glitter glue, have the children create a firework design on their clock pendulum.

Using scissors, have the children draw and cut out clock arms from glitter foam. This will be for the hour hand and the minute hand.

Once done, have the children poke a hole through the ends of the clock arms.

Then, have the children insert a paper fastener through the clock arms and then through the hole in the center of the paper plate.

After that, have the children close the back of the paper fastener, but keep it loose enough so that clock arms can move.

Lastly, tape the clock pendulum to the back of the paper plate, aligning the firework design with the children’s bed time hour.

And, voila, the children have now made a Paper Plate Countdown Clock for New Year’s Eve. What a fun and easy-to-make New Year craft activity for preschool and kindergarten children.  Just perfect for a Holiday-theme unit!

Then, have the children draw and cut a triangle-shape large enough to fit around Santa Claus’ head.

Once done, have the children secure the hat by stapling the ends together or securing it with two-way tape.

When ready, have the children glue the hat to Santa Claus’ head.

After that, have the children insert Santa Claus’ head into the top opening of the toilet paper roll.

Now it’s time for the cotton balls!  To make Santa’s beard, have the children glue cottons balls all around Santa Claus’ face and the top of the toilet paper roll.

Lastly, have the children glue a cotton ball at the end of Santa’s hat.

And, voila! The children have now made a toilet paper roll Santa craft!

Using glue, have the children paste on cotton balls at the bottom of their Christmas Tree Ornament. This is our winter snow!

Lastly, have the children thread ribbon through the hole at the top of their Christmas Tree Ornament and knot it.

Craft instructions:

Help the children cut toilet paper rolls into 21 circle shapes about 1 inch wide.

Let dry.

While toilet paper rolls are drying, have the children paint a sheet of white cardboard blue.

Let dry.

Then, have the children paint a craft stick brown.

Let dry.

When dry, have the children glue the craft stick down the center of the blue cardboard.

Once done, have the children cut 8 squares from red tissue paper and 13 squares of green tissue paper, about 8×8 in size.

After that, have the children lay out one row of 6 toilet paper rolls, 4 green and 2 red, at the bottom of the page, just about the craft stick.

Then, have the children pour glue in the center of the 6 circles.

Have the children roll up the red tissue paper squares and glue them in the center of the red toilet paper rolls.

Now, have the children roll up the green tissue paper squares and glue them in the center of the green toilet paper rolls.

When complete, have the children lay out a row of 5 toilet paper rolls, 3 green and 3 red, on top of the row of 6 toilet paper rolls and glue tissue paper squares in the center of the toilet paper rolls.

Once done, have the children lay out a row of 4 toilet paper rolls, 2 green and 2 red, on top of the row of 5 toilet paper rolls and glue tissue paper squares in the center of the toilet paper rolls.

Repeat again, with a row of 3 toilet paper rolls (2 red and 1 green), then a row of 2 toilet paper rolls (2 green), and finish with a row of 1 toilet paper roll.

Using scissors, have the children draw and cut a star from yellow construction paper and glue the star on the toilet paper roll at the top of the Christmas Tree.

Lastly, have the children glue cotton balls at the bottom of the Christmas Tree.

And, voila! The children have now made a toilet paper roll Christmas tree craft!

Once done, have the children glue the small black pieces inside the Penguin, all around the white pieces.

Using the scissors again, have the children cut very tiny pieces of white paper, and glue them all over the sky, giving the appearance of falling snow.

Let dry.

When dry, have the children choose a craft stick in a color of their choice and glue the craft stick in the center of the Menorah candle holder.

Let dry.

Then, have the children glue 4 craft sticks on each side of the center craft stick.  These will be the Menorah candles.

Let dry.

After that, have the children draw and cut out 8 flames from white card stock.  For the 9th flame, have the children make this flame higher and larger and then cut it out.

Turning over the Menorah, have the children glue the largest flame on the center craft stick.

Once done, have the children glue all the other flames on the other craft sticks.

And, voila, the children have now made a Hanukkah Craft Stick Menorah!

Have the children mix together 2 TBSP of glue and 4 TBSP of shaving cream.

Let dry.

Then, have the children draw and cut out a top hat, sun and tree from different color construction paper.

When ready, have the children glue the top hat, googly eyes and candy corn nose on their Snowman.

On their Snowman’s body, have the children glue buttons.

Lastly, using puffy paint, have the children draw clouds and snow on their winter scene.

Let dry.

• Hole puncher
• Cotton balls

• White shoe lace or string
• Scotch tape

Craft instructions:
Have the children draw and cut out mittens from construction paper.

Using a hole puncher, have the children make 6 holes in the middle of their mittens, resembling a star-shape (1 at the top, 2 on each side, and 1 at the bottom).

Next, have the children turn the mittens over and insert the white shoe string through one of the holes on the side.

Once done, have the children scotch tape the white shoe string to the back of the mitten, securing it in place.

Using the white shoe string, have the children create an x-shape, crossing through the holes of each side (2 on each side)

Then, have the children insert the white shoe string through the hole at the top and string it underneath the x-shape, through to the hole at the bottom and secure it with scotch tape.

When complete, the children should have a snowflake design on their mittens!

Lastly, have the children glue cotton balls at the bottom of their mittens for decoration.

And, voila! The children have now practiced their fine motor skills with this Winter lacing craft project!

Let’s make homemade bath crayons with the kids!  Bathtub time just got a whole lot more fun with this homemade bath crayons craft recipe for kids.  And, we bet kids will agree!

Craft items you will need:

• Clear glycerin soap base cut into cubes
• 3 or more soap color dyes (or food color dyes)
• Essential oils in your favorite smells (optional)
• Glass measuring cup for melting soap
• Spoons for mixing colors and fragrances
• Ice cube trays or round crayon molds

Craft instructions:

Separate the soap base cubes; one pile for each soap color dye.

Have the children place the soap cube for the first color in a glass measuring cup and melt in microwave in short bursts.

Once melted, have the children add soap color a drop at a time, mixing well after each drop until you get the color right.

Then, add a couple of drops of essential oils and mix well.

Next, have the children carefully pour the color soap into ice cube trays.

If you see any air bubbles on the surface of the soap, spray it with rubbing alcohol.

Have the children repeat the same soap crayon making process with the rest of the colors.

After that, allow the soap to set until it is firm. This could take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours.  When the soap is close to firm, feel free to place the soap in the freezer to speed up the hardening process.

When ready, have the children pop the soap crayons out of the trays.

And Voila! We just made homemade bath crayons with the kids!

Using scissors, have the children cut a paper plate in half.

Then, have the children cut out a small half-circle shape from the paper plate.  This will be the entrance to the Bear’s cave.

When ready, have the children apply glue to the paper plate and press it down over the Bear (brown construction paper).

After that, have the children glue the googly eyes on their Bear.

Once done, using the leftover paper plate, have the children draw and cut out a moon.  Have the children glue the moon close to the top of the page.

Using a brown marker, have the children draw Fall/Winter trees around the Bear’s cave.

Lastly, have the children glue cotton balls all around the Bear’s cave and on the ground.

And, voila! The children have now made a hibernating bear craft.

Playdough recipe ingredients you will need:

• 3 cups flour
• 2 TBSP oil
• 3 cups water
• 1 1/2 cups salt
• 2 TBSP cream of tartar
• 1 1/2 ounces of apple pie spice/cinnamon, nutmeg and ground cloves
• Red food coloring
• Pie dish

Craft instructions:

Have the children mix all the ingredients together in a pan.

Next, place the pan on the stove, on medium heat, and stir constantly.

When the mixture thickens and sticks together, take the pan off the oven and continue stirring.

Let the play dough ball cool.  Knead the play dough.

Repeat the play dough recipe process again, but this time do not use food coloring.

Now it’s time to make the Apple Pie!

Using the red play dough, have the children make round apple balls.  Once, done, set aside.

Next, have the children line a pie plate with the beige dough, forming a pie crust.

After that, have the children place the apple on top of the beige dough.

Then, have the children make small strips from the beige dough, roll them out, and make a pie crust.  This will be the top layer that goes over the apples.

And, voila! The children have now made an apple pie with a homemade playdough recipe!

Next, have the children glue the Turkey feathers to the widest end of the pine cone.

Let dry.

Then, have the children glue the googly eyes at the top end of the pine cone.

Let dry.

Lastly, have the children draw and cut out a small yellow or orange Turkey beak from construction paper and insert the Turkey beak through a slit in the pine cone.

• Paper bag
• Toilet paper roll
• Yellow construction paper
• Ziploc bags
• Popcorn kernels
• Paper plates for drying
• Food coloring or paint
• Glue
• Scissors

Craft instructions:

Have the children cut out a strip of yellow construction paper that’s about an inch longer than the toilet paper roll.

Once cut, have the children roll the yellow strip around the toilet paper roll and either glue it or tape it to secure the yellow strip in place.

Next, have the children place 1 TBSP of popcorn kernels in a Ziploc bag.

Then, have the children add food coloring or paint into the Ziploc bag, close and shake.

When done, have the children pour the popcorn kernels onto a paper plate and let dry.

While the first batch of popcorn kernels are drying, have the children repeat the process again, but this time with a different color.

Once the children have popcorn kernels in all the Autumn colors, have the children apply glue all over the toilet paper roll.

Have the children attach the kernels to the glue and let dry.

After that, have the children cut out a rectangle shape, 5 inches by 3 inches, from a brown paper bag.

Using scissors, have the children cut strips (1/4-1/2 inch strips) from the top of the rectangle to about 2/3′s of the way down.  This will be the Indian Corn husk.

Lastly, have the children insert the Indian Corn husk inside the toilet paper roll.

And, voila, the children have now made a toilet roll India Corn craft for Thanksgiving!

Next, have the children add different colors of food coloring (red, blue and yellow) and shake the bag till the pasta is colored evenly.

Then, have the children apply a fair amount of glue on the first stripe and stick on the marshmallows.

After that, have the children apply glue to the second stripe and paste on the red pasta.

Have the children repeat the process for the next 2 stripes (first marshmallows, then red pasta).

Once done, have the children apply glue to the top of the balloon and paste on the blue pasta.

On the small stars, have the children glue on the white Styrofoam stars, and for the larger stars, have the children glue on the yellow pasta.

Let set.

And, voila, the children have now made a Memorial Day Pasta and Marshmallow Balloon!  Just perfect for a Memorial Day celebration!

Craft instructions:

Cut the potato in half, and trace out a star with a sharpened pencil.

Press the pencil firmly into the potato to make an outline, which you are going to cut out with a knife.

Once done, using a paring knife, cut the pattern out of your potato.

You will want your stamp to be at least 1/4 inch deep.

Once done, have the children dip the potato in paint and press down hard, on the card stock, to get the Star shapes.

They can also drag the potato and make stripes too!

And, voila, the children have now made potato stamping stars Veterans Day craft!

Lastly, have the children draw and cut out a small yellow Turkey beak from yellow construction paper.

Once done, have the children glue the orange heart to the brown heart.

After that, have the children glue the red diamond or oval shape on top of the orange heart.  This will be the Turkey’s head.

When ready, have the children glue the Turkey beak onto the Turkey head, and paste on the googly eyes too!

Have the children then turn their Turkey over, and scotch tape feathers all around the Turkey.

With their Turkey still turned over, have the children glue on 2 craft sticks.  These will be the Turkey’s legs.

Now, flip it over! 

And, voila, the children have now made a Thanksgiving Heart Turkey!

Craft items you will need:

• Clear glycerin soap cut in cubes
• Tempera paint
• Measuring cup
• Stir stick
• Ice cube trays

Craft instructions:

Cut up 2-3 cubes of glycerin soap and place in the microwave for 15 seconds.

Remove the soap and stir.

Next, have the children choose a color paint and add a few drops of paint into the soap. Mix well.

Then, have the children pour the mixture into the ice cube trays.

Have the children repeat the process, but this time with another color of paint.

Once all the colors of paint have been done,  have the children place the ice cube trays in the freezer for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, have the children remove the ice cube trays and leave on the counter overnight to set.

And voila! The soap crayons will be ready the next morning, and bathtub time will be a ton of fun!

Make a tree craft to celebrate the Fall season!

With this fun fall craft, kids paint their summer tree with green hand prints for the leaves. Then, they can paint their fall tree with orange hand prints for the leaves.

What a great hands-on activity to teach children about the seasons and seasonal changes. This easy and fun craft is perfect for a preschool or kindergarten Fall season theme unit at home or in the classroom!

While the kids are making their Fall and Summer hand print tree, play The Colors Of The Seasons song for kids in the background.

So, what are you waiting for?  Let’s craft a Fall and Summer tree!

Craft items you will need:

• Brown construction paper
• Cream or white construction paper
• Red, Yellow and Green paint
• 3 paper plates
• Glue
• Scissors

Craft instructions:

Have the children draw and cut out a tree trunk from brown construction paper.

Next, have the children draw and cut out a tree shape from white construction paper.

Then, have the children glue the tree to the tree trunk.

After that, have the children take a paper plate and mix together red and yellow paint to make orange paint.

When ready, have the children dip their hands in the orange paint and paint orange leaves all over their Fall tree.

Let dry.

In the remaining paper plate, pour some green paint for the children.

Have the children flip over their tree, and dip their hands in the green paint and paint green leaves all over their Summer tree.

Let dry.

And, voila, the children have now made a Fall and Summer hand print tree craft!  

Kids will have a ton of fun making Trees with this Fall and Summer Tree craft.  It’s the perfect craft for a Fall lesson plan!
