Community Helpers Doctor’s Bag Craft For Kids!


This Community Helpers Doctor’s First Aid Kit craft is a great extension activity for preschoolers and kindergarteners. This Doctor’s bag craft is also perfect for a Labor Day theme unit. And, it is a ton of fun for kids to make and wear during pretend play time! 

Richard Scarry’s What Do People Do All Day is a wonderful book to read to introduce children to community helpers. And, there are so many great activities to go along with the book, like this Doctor’s Bag craft for kids.

Five Little Monkeys song for kids is an adorable complement to this super fun kids community helpers craft activity.

So, what are you waiting for?  Let’s start learning and crafting!

Craft items you will need:

  • Black card stock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • White and red paper
  • Q-Tips
  • Cotton swab
  • Band-aid
  • Craft stick
  • Gauze and tape
  • Scotch tape
  • Glue

Craft instructions:

Have the children fold the sheet of black construction paper in half.   This will be the Doctor’s First Aid Kit/Doctor’s Bag.

Next, have the children cut out a handle from the folded black construction paper.

Then, have the children cut out a square from white paper and glue it on the front of the Doctor’s Bag.

After that, have the children draw and cut out a red cross from construction paper. and glue the red cross onto the white paper on the Doctor’s Bag.

When ready, have the children write their name on red construction paper and glue it on the Doctor’s Bag.

Now, it’s time to decorate the inside of their Doctor’s Bag.   Inside, using scotch tape, have the children stick on all the medical supplies.


And, voila, the children have now made a Doctor’s Bag!   This fun craft is just perfect for a Community Helpers theme unit and pretend play!
